Comrade Dauda Hands Over 4,000 Educational Materials To Students Of Onilekere Junior High School

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has formally handed over 4,000 school books, school bags and mathematical sets to students of Onilekere Junior High School, Ikeja, as part of the council’s Back-to-School 2.0 initiative.

The presentation followed the official flag-off of the distribution of 50,000 exercise books, 3,000 school bags and 1,000 mathematical sets to schools across the council. The initiative was received with cheers from students, teachers and school principals, with the materials distributed simultaneously across the eight schools under Ikeja Local Government.

At Onilekere Junior High School, Comrade Dauda also provided furniture for the school, further demonstrating his administration’s commitment to improving the learning environment and supporting education at the grassroots.

Addressing the students, the chairman urged them to make judicious use of the materials, describing them as an investment in their future.

 

“What we are handing over to you today is your future. Cherish it, protect it, and make good use of it. Take your education seriously because we are optimistic that doctors, engineers and even future chairmen will emerge from among you.”

Comrade Dauda also charged the students to shun cultism, drug abuse and other social vices, urging them to speak up whenever they face challenges.

 

He advised them to seek help from their teachers, parents, religious leaders or other trusted persons rather than resorting to actions that could jeopardise their future.

The chairman reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to supporting education through the I.K.E.J.A Agenda, particularly its Knowledge-Based Economic Empowerment component.

 

Responding, the Principal of Onilekere Junior High School, Mrs. S. O Onakoya, expressed appreciation to Comrade Dauda for the educational materials and furniture, describing the intervention as a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to the development of the school.

 

She commended the chairman for fulfilling his promises towards improving the school’s infrastructure and prayed for more strength and wisdom for him to continue leading Ikeja Local Government to its promised land.

 

The exercise forms part of the second edition of the council’s Back-to-School programme, themed “Supporting Education, Inspiring Excellence”.
