Comrade Dauda Hosts League Of Imams, Seeks Support On Security, Environmental Sanitation, Youth Reorientation

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), hosted members of the League of Imams during their monthly prayer meeting at the Council Secretariat, where special prayers were offered for the peace, security, stability and continued progress of Ikeja and its environs.

Addressing the Islamic leaders, Comrade Dauda highlighted his administration’s efforts to strengthen security, maintain a cleaner environment and tackle youth restiveness and drug abuse. He described Ikeja as a strategic hub of Lagos State, being home to the State Government House, Computer Village and the local and international airports, stressing the need for residents to remain vigilant and support government in safeguarding lives and property.

The Chairman also expressed concern over indiscriminate waste disposal by some residents, noting that environmental sanitation is a collective responsibility. He said the environmental task force and enforcement measures against offenders would continue until sanity is restored, while assuring residents that government is working tirelessly to address the current waste management challenges affecting parts of the state.

Speaking on behalf of the League of Imams, the Chief Imam of Ikeja Central Mosque, Alhaji Kamorudeen Adeola Ilo, commended AKOD’s commitment to improving the living conditions of residents. He also assured the Chairman of the Imams’ continued support, pledging to sensitise youths against drug abuse and other social vices while praying for greater success and impactful leadership throughout his tenure.
