Comrade Dauda Intensifies Revenue Drive With Enforcement In Computer Village

For the past two days, Comrade Dauda, alongside members of the Executive Council, management and relevant officials of the Local Government, has been engaging business owners, shop operators and corporate organisations along Adepele Street and other parts of Computer Village on the need to fulfil their statutory revenue obligations.

The exercise has recorded a high level of compliance, with the Chairman personally educating traders and business owners on the importance of paying local government levies.

Comrade Dauda stressed that effective governance and development require the collective responsibility of government and citizens, noting that government presence can only be sustained when residents and businesses play their part by meeting their civic obligations.

The Council Chairman assured traders and business owners that the Local Government remained committed to doing more for the people, describing the council as the tier of government closest to the grassroots. He, however, appealed to businesses that were yet to fulfil their obligations, particularly as the year progresses, to do so.

He noted that with September already underway, some businesses were yet to pay their statutory levies, urging them to take advantage of the ongoing engagement and enforcement to regularise their payments.

Some business owners expressed excitement at the Chairman’s personal engagement, with some saying it was their first time of seeing their Local Government Chairman directly interacting with them. They welcomed the exercise and expressed hope that the revenue generated would translate into more development across Computer Village and Ikeja generally.

Among officials who accompanied the Chairman on the tour were the Secretary to the Local Government, Prince Adeyinka Illo; Council Manager, Mrs. Odubeko Juliana Taiwo; Chief of Staff, Hon Adeniyi Adeyi,  Head, Legal Unit, Mrs. Balley Olubusola; and Head, Internal Audit, Mr. Folahan Aina Kasimawo, alongside other management and revenue officials.

The revenue mobilisation and enforcement exercise continues in Adepele Street, Computer Village, Ikeja.
