The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has announced the commencement of applications for the Ikeja Local Government Bursary Scheme, a landmark educational support initiative designed to ease the financial burden on students from the council area.

The scheme, which marks a significant milestone in the council’s commitment to educational development, will provide eligible students in tertiary institutions with an opportunity to access financial assistance to support their academic pursuits.

The application portal, https://ikeja.lg.gov.ng/bursary, opened on October 15, 2026, and will close on November 14, 2026. Eligible students are encouraged to visit the portal and complete their applications within the stipulated period.

The bursary scheme is part of the Comrade Dauda administration’s commitment to promoting access to education, supporting young people and investing in the future of Ikeja. It also aligns with the Knowledge-Based Economic Empowerment component of the administration’s I.K.E.J.A Agenda.

Under the eligibility guidelines, applicants must be verifiable indigenes of Ikeja Local Government by parentage or origin, or residents who have lived in Ikeja for at least 10 years, subject to verification through Local Government identification or the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA).

Applicants must also have attended primary and/or secondary school within Ikeja Local Government and be students in good academic and disciplinary standing at tertiary institutions accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) or National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE).

Candidates must be in at least 200 level or its equivalent. A minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 on a 5.0 scale, or its equivalent, is recommended, with a current academic transcript required as evidence of academic performance.

Required documents include a Local Government certificate or letter of indigeneship, admission letter, current student identity card, most recent academic transcript or result, primary and/or secondary school leaving certificate, valid means of identification and passport photograph. Applicants must also provide evidence of good conduct from their institutions.

The council urges eligible students to ensure that all required documents and information are accurate and complete before submitting their applications.

The initiative reinforces the Comrade Dauda administration’s determination to make education a key driver of grassroots development and create opportunities for young people to achieve their academic aspirations.

Interested students are advised to apply through the official portal at https://ikeja.lg.gov.ng/bursary before the November 14 deadline.
