CP Orutugu Holds Strategic Meeting With Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders & Divisional Police Officers

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD on Thursday, 11th September 2025, held a high-level strategic meeting with Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) of the Command. 
According to the PPRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the meeting was aimed at revitalizing operational strategies and reinforcing proactive policing across the State.
The meeting, which took place at the State Police Command Headquarters, Awka, provided a platform to review the Command’s operational framework, strengthen intelligence-led policing, and reassess the progress of ongoing investigations into various cases.
In his address, CP Orutugu charged the officers to remain committed to their constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property, while emphasizing discipline, professionalism, and collaboration with community stakeholders as key drivers of effective policing. He further directed Area Commanders, tactical teams, and DPOs to step up visibility patrols, surveillance, and intelligence sharing to sustain the current gains in security across Anambra State.
The climax of the meeting was the presentation of cheques from the Inspector-General of Police’s Group Life Insurance/Family Welfare Scheme. The presentation totalling ₦59,186,177.62 (Fifty Nine Million, One Hundred and Eighty Sixty Thousand, One Hundred and Seventy Seven Naira Sixty Two Kobo) was personally made by the Command to 38 families of Police officers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty. The CP described the gesture as a demonstration of the Force leadership’s commitment to the welfare of personnel and their families, stressing that the sacrifices of the gallant officers will never be forgotten.
In addition, CP Orutugu, on behalf of the Officers and Men of the Command, also extended cash support to the family of an Inspector of Police who lost his life while repelling an attack by insurgents at Aguata. He reaffirmed the Command’s readiness to continually support the families of fallen heroes.
The CP further reassured Ndi Anambra of the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring safety, law, and order, while calling on the public to continue to provide credible information to assist the Police in fighting crime.
