Crisis Looms In Ado-Odo As Community Protests Imposition Of Baale, Send SOS To Gov. Abiodun

Posted on August 29, 2025

The people of Okaran Village in Ado-Odo-Ota Local Government of Ogun State may go to war over an alleged imposition of the current Baale of the community, Chief Jaiyeola Jimoh by the Olofin of Ado -Odo HRM (Oba) Olusola Idris Adebowale Lamidi-Osolo.

To this end members of the community led by the head of the Akapo Royal family, Okaran Village, Elder Oluwatoyin Akapo on Wednesday August 27 staged a peaceful protest to the Palace of HRM Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle (Asade Agunloye IV) Olu of Ilaro & Paramount ruler of Yewa land and President Yewa Traditional Council.

During the protest members of the community carried placards with inscriptions such as ‘We say no to Imposition’, ‘Save Our Soul Governor Abiodun’ among others.

Though Oba Olugbenle could not attend to the protesters as he was unavoidably absent, but a letter of protest written on behalf of the community by their lawyer Michael Ladipo Esq of Micheal Ladipo & Co was submitted to the Palace through the Secretary to the Oba.

In the letter dated 25 August, 2025 titled “In Re-Attempted Breach of Peace, Chaos and Total Anarchy within Ado-Odo-Ota Local Government wrongful upgrade and appointment of Mr. Jaiyeola Jimoh Togun (the embattled Baale of Okanran) as a coronet -Oba on the ongoing Chieftaincy Baale-ship upgrade which same stool is a subject of litigation in suit No.HCL /91/2024 before Honourable Justice N.O.Laja -Judge” .

The petition, which was also sent to the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs , Ogun State, and the Executive Chairman, Ado-Odo Ota Local Government, stated that the incumbent Olofin of Ado-Odo HRM (Oba) Olusola Idris Adebowale Lamidi-Osolo is also a party to the suit which is pending determination before Hon.Justice N.O. Laja -Durojaiye presently presiding over the High court of Justice, Ogun State Nigeria.

And that both the Olofin of Ado-Odo and his purportedly installed Baale submitted themselves to the jurisdiction of the court and it is very important for both parties to maintain the status quo .

And that both Governor Dapo Abiodun and Oba Olugbenle should wade into the matter before it escalated to Chaos because the imposed Baale is threatening violence in a case which is pending before the court .
