Cross River APC Youth Lobby Group Enlightens Electorate On Voter Registration

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Youth Lobby Group has started to mobilise eligible voters in the 18 local government areas of Cross River State to participate in the electoral process.

The youth group which is led by the member representing Cross River State at the National Youth Lobby Group, Mr. Asuquo Ekpenyong,  began the enlightenment campaign from the Northern senatorial district.

The district consists of Obudu, Ogoja, Yala, Bekwara and Obanliku local  government areas.

At each of the local government areas visited, Ekpenyong met with monarchs,  prominent people and young people, and urged the youths to take part during the extended voters’ registration exercise organised by INEC.

Ekpenyong said as INEC reopens the continuous voters’ registration exercise, young people of eligible voting age in the five local government areas in the senatorial district, should take advantage of the process to register or revalidate their Permanent Voters Cards.

“I have come to motivate, support and mobilise you as the most active segment of our society, to take the electoral process seriously by registering to vote and also offering yourselves to serve our people by aspiring for the position of your choice in the 2023 elections,” he said.

Ekpenyong, who is the state Commissioner for Finance, also urged young people to join the Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade in his efforts to reposition the state’s economy.

“For more than 500 of you to come all the way to Calabar for the youth summit and back shows clearly that you love Ben Ayade and you love the APC. 

“The hallmark of the project was to fashion out ways that will ensure every youth within the voting age possesses a valid voters’ card that will be the weapon or instrument of the change you seek.

“Let me draw your attention once again to the fact that His Excellency, Senator Prof Ben Ayade is not resting on his oars, but is working out ways to harness your budding potentials to improve your lot. You should therefore avoid violence and acts likely to harm yourself or the society.”
