Daniel Bwala: A Rising Superstar Shines At Borno South Stakeholders Award Nite

Yesterday, Wednesday, 9th April, 2025, would go down in history as a remarkable day when the Borno South Stakeholders Forum, for the first time in the history of the country, held an award for its illustrious sons and daugthers. 
The epoch-making event saw 16 distinguished personalities of Southern Borno extraction, who were said to have made remarkable impacts on the people of that enclave honoured. One of such awardees is the Special Adviser/Spokesperson to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR on Media and Policy Communications, Dr. Daniel Bwala.
It was a night of glitz and glamour at the Congress Hall of the prestigious Transcorp Hilton hotel, Abuja. Very important personalities who graced the occasion include serving and former National Assembly members, former justices, prominent industrialists and business moguls as well as notable politicians.
Dr. Bwala, who at the event was intermittently referred to as the ‘Star Boy’ (of Southern Borno extraction) was particularly showered with encomiums for his commitment to uplifting the people of his origin. Also awarded was Nigeria’s former Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), Lieutenant General Turku Buratai. Others include Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara – a member of the House of Representatives for Bayo, Biu, Kwaya Kusa, and Shani federal constituency, Chief Anjikwi Ciwar – former Registrar of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, Inna Marya Ciroma – former Minister of Women Affairs amongst others.
Delivering President Tinubu’s goodwill message, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture & Food Security who stood in for Mr. President delivered a chef deouvre but laconic speech for the elated Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the FederalRepublic. Mr. President said,
“I am glad to note that one of the recipients of this award tonight is Daniel Hasan Bwala, my Special Adviser on Media and Policy Communications. He is like a son to me. His commitment to my administration’s Renewed Hope agenda is not in doubt.”
Speaking further, President Tinubu averred that the outstanding recognition of Dr. Bwala and the other awardees has set a benchmark for Southern Borno, the state, and Nigeria in general.
“Your unwavering dedication, perseverance, and excellence have brought us to this moment. It is an honour to stand with you as we recognize those whose tireless efforts have set a benchmark for southern Borno, Borno, and Nigeria in general.”
“Each award presented tonight is more than just a symbol of success. It is a testament to the commitment of long hours on unwavering determination that pushed the recipients forward.” The President said while  urging the organizers of the event to equally reflect, introspect, and take a moment to recognize communities and families who have supported and uplifted the hoi polloi on the streets.
On its part, the Convener of the event, Mallam Ishaya Malgwi, stated the choice of Bwala alongside others is in “fitting recognition of Barrister Bwala’s outstanding brilliance It is a recognition of his tireless efforts to be the best in whatever one chooses to do in life. A promotion of excellence and merit in Nigeria.”
He further affirmed, “By conferring this honour on Barrister Bwala, Borno South is celebrating not only his achievements but also the values of hard work, dedication, and excellence that he embodies.”
The visibly elated ‘Star Boy’ who spoke on behalf of other awardees expressed his immense appreciation to President Tinubu on behalf of other awardees, Southern Borno people, and Nigeria at large. He said Mr. President has changed the face of governance in the country where many groups that hitherto felt marginalised now have a voice in governance. He submitted that it is a watershed in the political history of the country.
Speaking further with journalists, the Presidential Spokesperson stated that he was excited and humbled by the award from his own local community. According to him, aside his previous achievements, the current recognition was a testament of the fact that the people of Southern Borno believe in the Tinubu administration and its commitment.
 “I am confident that the people of Borno South are standing firm with President Bola Tinubu, and his Renewed Hope Agenda, in an unwavering commitment to make a positive change in our dear country.” Bwala enthused.
Other dignitaries at the award ceremony included the Governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency Ahmad Fintiri who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Timothy Kataps, and the representative of the former Chief of Army Staff, General Theophilus Y. Danjuma (Rtd) among others.
