Don’t Entertain Religious Sentiments In Choice Of Right Leaders – Senator Adeola Tells Ogun Electorates

Posted on March 10, 2026

The Distinguished Lawmaker representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Dr Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has called on electorates in Ogun State not to allow religious sentiment to influence their decision in choosing the right leaders that will promote unity and development of the state.

Aremo Adeola posited that Ogun State is a multi-religious state, urging people of the state to be religious tolerant and embrace peaceful coexistence.

The Distinguished Senator gave the advice during his 3rd annual Ramadan lecture organised in Ilaro on Tuesday.

The senator added that the Ramadan lecture was organised to appreciate God and offer prayers for the nation and the state.

He said that as a devoted Christian, he had persistently supported the Islamic course and sponsored over 100 Muslim adherents to the Holy Pilgrimage in Mecca every year.

He enjoined other faiths based believers to jettison any religious bias from choosing the best candidate that can lead Ogun State to the eldorado.

Adeola also commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts at improving the nation’s economy, noting that the unification of exchange rates between the black market and the Central Bank of Nigeria reflects steps taken by the administration to strengthen the naira against the dollar.

Adeola used the occasion to appeal to parents in Ogun State not to deny their children quality education, describing them as the future pride of their families and the state.

He said he is a product of quality education and understands the importance of supporting students in the state to achieve academic success.

According to him, education remains the foundation of every child’s future, which was why he decided to pay the WAEC fees for 2,000 students in the state.

Adeola stressed that the gesture was not politically motivated, explaining that he had not declared any political ambition to anyone but was simply fulfilling his responsibility to his people.

He, therefore, cautioned critics against misinterpreting his efforts.

Also speaking at the lecture, Islamic cleric Sheikh Jamiu Sanusi Ami Olohun advised Adeola to beware of political sycophants who may mislead him from making the right decisions.

While praising the senator for his contributions to the development of Ogun State, the cleric urged him to rely on God rather than human beings in his political journey.

Similarly, the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, commended President Tinubu for his determination to reposition Nigeria.

Salako said the reforms initiated by Tinubu during his tenure as governor of Lagos laid the foundation that has made the state one of the most enviable places in the world.

He expressed confidence that the President would continue to implement policies capable of moving Nigeria to greater heights.

The minister also praised Senator Adeola, describing him as a compassionate leader who is religiously tolerant and committed to building on the developmental foundation laid by President Tinubu.
