Dr. Salaudeen Waheed Buruj Commends Renewed Hope In Nigerian Football

Posted on June 20, 2026

The Chief Executive Officer of Buruj Football Club and Sports Academy, Dr. Salaudeen Waheed Buruj, has commended the renewed progress in Nigerian football, praising the transition and development from the U-15, U-17, U-20, U-23, and the senior national team, the Super Eagles.

Dr. Buruj applauded the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) under its President, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, alongside key football administrators Bukola Olopade and Mallam Shehu Dikko, for putting Nigerian football on the right path through proper scouting, player development, and smooth transition from youth teams to the senior national team.

According to him, one of the biggest positives is the cooperation among coaches across all national team levels.

“It gives me great joy to see our coaches working together from the youth level up to the senior national team. This is what we have been expecting for years,” he said.

He specifically praised the technical structure involving the national teams, with Coach Simon Cletus handling the U-15 development setup, Coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere leading the U-17 national team, and the Super Eagles technical crew led by Eric Chelle.

Dr. Buruj also highlighted the NFF’s confidence in giving opportunities to young Nigerian coaches to grow and contribute to football development.

“Our new generation coaches have a lot to offer. They are technically sound, modern, and can compete with foreign coaches. Football has changed — it is now science-driven, and both coaches and players must adapt,” he added.

He advised Nigerians to stop condemning themselves and the country, urging citizens to support and build the nation instead.

“We should stop devaluing our country. If anything goes wrong, let us call for improvement, not condemnation. Many people travel abroad and still praise their countries despite challenges. It is left for me and you to make Nigeria better. No foreigner will come and build it for us.”

Dr. Buruj concluded by expressing confidence that Nigerian football is entering a new era of growth, unity, and progress.
