Edo State Forestry Commission Chairman Hosts Africa Initiative For Peace Project Leaders

The Chairman of the Edo State Forestry Commission, Hon. Valentine Owamagbe Asuen, played host to the leadership of the Africa Initiative for Peace Project, led by Mrs. Bernadette Strebel, President of the Association of World Peace, Europe.
The group’s visit to Edo State is in preparation for the flag-off of the 2025 World Environment Day tree planting project, which aims to plant one million trees. The project is a collaborative effort between the Edo State Government and the Africa Initiative for World Peace.
As part of the project, the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, will commission a 28.5-hectare forest plantation. Hon. Asuen, on behalf of the Edo State Government, welcomed the group to the state and assured them of the Forestry Commission’s support.
In her remarks, Mrs. Strebel, Vice President of the Africa Initiative for Peace Project, thanked Hon. Asuen for the support of the Edo State Forestry Commission and the Edo State Governor for his commitment to the project.
The “One Million Tree Planting for Peace” program is a laudable initiative of the Africa Initiative for Peace Project, in Collaboration with the Edo State Government  under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo. Senator Monday Okpebholo’s approach towards reforestation and climate change is commendable, and his commitment to environmental sustainability is a shining example for other  State Governors  to follow.
The successful implementation of this project will not only contribute to environmental conservation but also promote   economic growth in the state.
