The Lagos State Education District I has presented an award to the Chairman of the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mrs. Victoria Mopelola Peregrino, and Commissioner II, Mr. Biodun Bamgboye, for their outstanding performances in the education sector.

The Permanent Secretary/Tutor General of Education District I, Mr. Bashir Adebowale Adeoye, presenting the awards at the Conference room of the Teaching Service Commission, said it was in recognition of their dedication, diligence and contributions to the development of education in the district.

Noting that the award is part of the activities of the District Annual Merit Award for Outstanding Performances, he expressed deep appreciation to TESCOM leadership for their enormous support as he prepares to statutorily retire from the Lagos State public Service.

He reflected on the achievements made during his tenure, noting that District I did not only excel academically but also in moral instructions. “This is part of my legacy,” he said. “I couldn’t leave without honouring those who have stood by me and supported the progress we’ve made together. Mrs. Peregrino has been instrumental in these achievements, and I want to thank her and the commission for their unwavering support.”

Responding, the Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission, Mrs Victoria Mopelola Peregrino, who was visibly touched by the recognition, expressed her gratitude and praised Mr. Adeoye for his passion and commitment to the progress and development of Education District I, which comprised Agege, Ifako-Ijaiye and Alimosho.

She said, “I know Mr. Adeoye came to District I and redefined it,”. “This honour reminds us all that positions are temporary. What truly lasts is how we behave and the legacy we leave behind. Let us always work with diligence and integrity.”

She concluded with prayers for Mr Adeoye’s good health and success in future endeavours.

A board member of the Commission who was honoured alongside the Chairman, Mr Biodun Bamgboye, Commissioner II, also shared his appreciation for the recognition.

He said, “This was completely unexpected, and I am honoured. Mr. Adeoye has built something special in District I. The ideas he implemented and the structure he built have laid a strong foundation in the district. His legacy will speak for him,”.

He advised education leaders to foster team collaboration and allow members of their team the freedom to contribute creatively.

The ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Commission, staff and well-wishers from Education District I.
