The immediate past Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government Area, Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, and Barrister Azeez Oladapo Ninalowo have emerged winners in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly primaries in Agege Constituency 01 and 02, respectively, held Wednesday, May 20.

Egunjobi and Ninalowo had earlier been adopted as the party’s consensus candidates during a caucus meeting of the party presided over by Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.Mudashiru Obasa last Tuesday.

The Speaker’s public backing of the two candidates was said to have greatly influenced voting patterns among delegates and strengthened confidence in their candidacies.

Party faithful and stakeholders turned out in thousands as they gleefully pitched their tents behind their preferred candidates during the exercise held across all the wards in Agege.

The primaries were broadcast live on various social media platforms while officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were fully on ground throughout the exercise to monitor proceedings.

The Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies were also on hand to ensure law and order.

Their presence contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of the primaries, as there were no reports of violence, disruption, or electoral malpractice.

Noteworthy is that the exercise in Agege was widely commended for its orderly conduct, transparency, and adherence to democratic principles.

There was an outburst of celebrations across Agege as supporters of Egunjobi and Ninalowo took to the streets and major roads to celebrate the outcome, expressing optimism that both men would provide quality representation and sustain developmental strides within their constituencies.

Party leaders who addressed supporters after the announcement of results praised the maturity displayed by the aspirants during the process.

They urged party members to remain united and work collectively towards the party’s success in the forthcoming general elections.

They also reiterated the APC’s commitment to internal democracy, unity, and peaceful political engagement.

They called on all aspirants and supporters to close ranks and channel their energies towards ensuring victory for the party at the polls.

The successful conduct of the primaries has further reinforced confidence in the party’s structure and leadership within Agege, setting the stage for a robust campaign ahead of the elections.
