The Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Lagos State, Hon Segun Odunmbaku, has posited that empowering women is key to social and economic growth of the society.

In his message marking the International Women’s Day, the Ojodu Mayor said, “On this International Women’s Day 2025, I extend my heartfelt greetings to the remarkable women of Ojodu LCDA and beyond. This year’s theme, “Accelerate Action,” underscores the urgent need to break barriers, promote inclusivity and advance gender equality”.

“At Ojodu LCDA, we recognize that empowering women is key to social and economic growth. That is why our administration has been deliberate in implementing programmes that enhance our women’s self-reliance and overall well-being. Through various skills acquisition programmes and the provision of toolkits, we have equipped women with resources to build sustainable businesses. Widows have also received empowerment support to improve their livelihoods.”

“In education and health, we have provided Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities at Secondary Schools, ensuring better conditions for young girls. Additionally, we have donated material kits to nursing mothers and facilitated funding for market women, helping them expand their businesses and contribute to economic growth.”

“As we celebrate International Women’s Day and reaffirm our commitment to women development, Let us continue to work together to create an inclusive society where every woman has the opportunity to thrive, contribute and lead. Happy International Women’s Day!” Hon. Segun Odunmbaku concluded.
