Encomium As Sesi Whingan Foundation Showers Rewards On Outstanding Teachers, Students In Badagry

It was ecstatic mood and rain of encomiums on Prince Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, the founder of Sesi Whingan Foundation, as he rewarded the Best Head Teacher and the Best Assistant Head Teacher in Badagry Local Government of Lagos State with branded new Inverter Deep Freezer at the 2021 Annual Merit Award organized by Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Badagry Local Government under the auspices of Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).


At the award programme, which was held on 5th August, 2021 at Badagry Town Hall, Badagry, the entire teachers, non-teaching staff, students and other attendees were full of praises and prayers for the founder of Sesi Whingan Foundation, Prince Sesi Whingan, who personally presented the gifts to the beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries were; Mrs. Akinleye Florence Oluwayemisi, the Head Teacher, Anglican Primary School, Itoga; who bagged the award of the Best Head Teacher, SUBEB Badagry and Mr. Sa’adu Rasak Babata; the Assistant Head Teacher, St Paul’s Anglican Primary School, Igborosun, who won the award of the Best Assistant Head Teacher, SUBEB, Badagry Local Government respectively. They were both presented with a branded new Inverter Deep Freezer each by Sesi Whingan.

Others, who also benefitted from Prince Sesi educational support rewards were; Miss Oyetomi Favour, a pupil of Methodist Primary School, Ashipanu, Badagry West, she won as the Overall Best Pupil 2021; Mr. Akinrinade Victor of AUD Primary School,  Badagry, the overall best clerk of the year 2021 and Mrs Oluarebi Ganiyat, the overall best cleaner of the year 2021. These category of winners were presented with cash gifts.

Speaking at the event, Prince Sesi expressed his joy to be in the midst of the teachers. He opined that the role of teachers in the nation building is one of the most germane that could not be ignored. The young philanthropist, who has also declared his intention to contest for a seat at the National Assembly by 2023 to Represent Badagry Federal Constituency declared that, gone are the days when teachers’ reward is presumably at heaven.
He said teachers play an important roles in the lives of every individual, and as such, should be rewarded here on earth. Sesi disclosed that his parents were both teachers, and teaching profession is one of the noblest profession worldwide. 

“As a son of teachers, I am delighted to be among you. Both my father and mother were teachers, you can all see that I was brought up and nurtured by one you. Though people often say the reward of teachers are in heaven, even if their rewards are actually in heaven, I opined that we should also reward them here on earth. This formed the reason I took this upon myself to appreciate some of you, who have excelled in your chosen profession. This is not to say that other teachers here are not appreciated, we appreciate and cherish you all, we are only rewarding the best among you to encourage others to put more efforts”, Sesi said.

Reacting to the reward from Prince Sesi to the outstanding teachers and others, Alh. (Mrs.) Ajetunmobi S. A., who was the Mother of the Day at the award ceremony, was full of praise and prayers for Sesi. Mrs Ajetunmobi could not hide her joy, especially on humanitarian assistance being rendered by Sesi as read from his profile, which preceded an a special award he was given. She prayed that God Almighty will continue to abide by him and his foundation in whatever they desire.

Also, the Education Secretary of Badagry Local Government Education Authority, Alh. (Mrs.) Modinat A. B. Adebayo, was also full of appreciation to Sesi. She said she was shocked at the gifts as Prince Sesi did not inform her of such plan. She also lend her voice of prayers. She however, urged other philanthropist and political leaders to emulate what Sesi Whingan is doing. She concluded that, with people like Sesi, Badagry will not remain the same again positively.
