Enugu APC Holds Stakeholders Meeting, Agrees On Zoning Of Offices
Following preparations for the Enugu State Congress, leaders and stakeholders of APC held a meeting yesterday in Enugu.
The meeting, which was presided over by the SouthEast representative in the Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and former Senate President, Senator Ken Nnamani, sought to harmonise the various positions and interests in order to ensure that the party spoke with one voice at the congress.
In line with this, the Adhoc Zoning Committee headed by Chief Okenwa and Hon. Ugwuegede submitted their report to the members present, who adopted the zoning arrangement as suggested by the committee.
Offices zoned included:
* Governor (East Senatorial Zone)
* Dep. Gov. (Enugu North Sen. Zone)
* HOA Speaker (West Sen. Zone)
* Party Chairman (West Sen. Zone)
* Party Secretary (East Sen. Zone)
* Party Deputy Chair (North Sen. Zone)
* NWC Position (North Sen. Zone)
Put briefly, the new zoning arrangement saw Party positions previously zoned to the East moved to the Enugu West Senatorial Zone, while positions held by the Enugu North Senatorial Zone and West Senatorial Zone were moved to the Enugu East Senatorial Zone and Enugu North Senatorial Zone respectively.
In addition, a 34-Man Harmonization Committee was set up to help broker peace within the rank and file of the party. With each LGA having two representatives each, the Committee was saddled to reach out to aggrieved members of Enugu APC, who may have for one reason or the other felt shortchanged by the processes that would guide the congress.
In addition, it was also agreed that each senatorial zone was to assiduously explore the possibility of arriving at consensus candidates but where such could not be feasible, each position was to be contested through Option A-4 at model of election.
Other dignitaries who attended the meeting did included H.E. Barr. Sullivan Chime, former Governor of Enugu State, Senator Ayogu Eze (2019 Gubernatorial Candidate), Rt. Hon Eugene Odo, Gen. Okoloagu (BOT Member), Chief Emma Eneukwu, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Princess Ada Ogbu and Amb. Ginika Tor.
