Excitement & Fun As Lawmaker, Hon Folajimi Mohammed (SEED) Hosts “Soccer Time Out”

It was a convivial atmosphere with rare display of soccer artistry by Ikeja Youths on Sunday 22nd May, 2022, as the Honourable Lawmaker representing Ikeja Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Folajimi Mohammed, hosted “Soccer Time Out”.

The sporting event, which took place at Central Primary School, opposite the Lagos State Police Command, Muiz Banire Street, off Oba Akinjobi, GRA, Ikeja, started at 3pm.

Disclosing the objectives behind the event, Hon Folajimi said, “We hope to use this” Soccer Time Out” to foster a cordial relationship between the Youths and their representative. And equally create a forum for interaction”

“As there is need for a feeling of inclusion and ownership in the Youths towards their Constituency, I therefore decided as a friendly and responsive lawmaker to use the event also to promote sports within my Constituency and equally use it as a tool to promote unity among our people.”

The sporting event was a 6-aside brief soccer tournament between the 8 Wards of the Constituency. Each Ward had to slug it out with other for 10 minutes of play.

It was played in this order:

*Ward ONIGBONGBO vs Ward ONILEKERE*

*Ward GRA vs Ward ALAUSA*

*Ward WAASINMI vs Ward OLUSOSUN*

*Ward OPEBI vs Ward OREGUN*

The winners faced each other in a semi final, and the winners of the semi final faced each other in the final, which lasted for 15 minutes. 

The final match ended in a draw and players were thereafter selected randomly to play against the Honorable’s Team.

At the end of the whole football matches, there were photo sessions with Hon Folajimi and the participating teams before the Soccer Time Out was brought to a close.

It will be recalled that the playing turf for the event was recently launched by Hon Folajimi Mohammed as part of his contribution to the development of sporting talents in his Constituency.

Dignitaries who graced the event included the Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA, Hon Oladotun Olakanle, Honourable Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly and distinguished Constituents.

The young and energetic legislator, Hon Folajimi Mohammed, promised Constituents that there is more to come in terms of infrastructural development, empowerment, legislative interventions and others.
