The standard of education and intelligence level may have departed with the old generations even the legal practitioners in Nigeria, over what they had suffered in the hands of fake lawyers for the past two years in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that a fake lawyer, one Mr. Uche Nwajiakwu just woke up, bought the lawyers wears, started going to courts to represent clients and defeated real lawyers in some cases.

Some of the lawyers who heard about his arrest as a fake lawyer were surprised as they narrated their experiences with him in court as he had defeated them in criminal matters. The lawyers recognised his brilliance, how he argued matters from the point of law and most times won the briefs.

One of his clients, Mr. Williams, said that Mr. Nwajiakwu had exhibited some kind of brilliance in the rule of law and practice to the extent that one will be surprised to hear that he was fake. It was gathered that many lawyers had suffered defeats from him at various courts in Lagos Island, Ikeja, Ojo, Apapa and other areas to the extent that some lawyers dread him if he stood as counsel to a client.

P.M.EXPRESS investigations revealed that Mr. Nwajiakwu resided at Asalu area of Abaranje in Ikotun, Lagos, with his family including his aged parents.
He was said to operating by the name Next Oil Chambers and had claimed that he was an employee of the legal section of an oil company.

However, luck ran out on him after he was apprehended at Ojo Magistrates court while arguing on an application for bail for his client when another lawyer suspected him going by his improper presentation and he was arrested after proceedings.

At the police station, he admitted that he did not study law and explained that he was introduced into it by his friend, he started practicing and winning cases for their clients.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Nwajiakwu’s action had attracted the attention of the Lagos Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal who decried the issue of impersonation in the State. The police boss noted that it was on the increase especially in the medical and legal profession and even in journalism. Edgal warned the members of the public to be weary of such people. He said that the suspect was in police custody and will be charged to court for the alleged offence.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Mr. Nwajiakwu was not the only suspect arrested for impersonation, sometime in February, 2018, one Chris Elisha was arrested and he claimed to have practiced for over 15 years as a fake lawyer.
However, the similarity in the suspects was the recognition of their legal skill, intelligence and brilliance by the real lawyers who had encountered them in the courts.
