A family has cried to the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun to intervene in what it describes as attempted murder and conduct that had caused breach of peace in a community at Oke Osa, Ilogbo within Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

The family of Abdullahi Ganiyu of 20 Ogunwemimo Street, Oke Osa, along Ilogbo Road, alleged that one Alfa Wasiu built an illegal structure on the only road that leads Ogunwemimo Street to the other street. This structure, according to Ganiyu, has incessantly obstructing the flow of water especially during rain.

“The structure has caused a lot of havoc to the community and to my household in particular because there is no good flow of water whenever rain falls, and this used to cause heavy flooding. This man also built another house to block my own apartment.

“Unfortunately, all effort to let this man saw the reason was rebuffed, only for him to take up arms against me to the extent that my brother, Pastor Oluwafemi, was physically attacked with injuries sustained even in the presence of the police from Sango Ota police station. He was hospitalized,” Ganiyu said in a petition made available to P.M. EXPRESS.

Ganiyu said that the effort of the Community Development Association (CDA) and the police to ensure that there is peace in this case since 2016 that it started has not yielded any fruit, as the family realised that Alfa Wasiu is beyond what the police can handle.

“I wrote a petition to the Area Commander in Sango Ota to alert the police of my predicaments and threat to life, but this has not produced any result. The family is even tired of the whole thing with the police as the problem of flooding has made my house inhabitable,” he lamented.

It was gathered that the case will soon be charged to the court any moment, but Ganiyu and his family want Governor Abiodun to come to their rescue as the illegal structures erected by Alfa Wasiu violated the state’s environmental law, while he has also shown to the police that he is above the law.

“We want Governor Abiodun to come to our aid because this is an injustice from Alfa Wasiu. This case has been with the police for long. Only recently we heard that he will be charged to court. The best way out of this problem is for the state government to intervene,” said Pastor Oluwafemi, a brother to Abdullahi Ganiyu, who said he was also a victim of the alleged brutality from Alfa Wasiu.
