A mother of three, Mrs. Amanda Chinwa, may have reportedly entered the wrong hand as her marriage with the husband, identified as Chinwa, had not been devoid of squabbles and the man had allegedly been using her to exhibit his boxing skills in Lagos.

Amanda was said to have become partially blind in one of her eyes because her husband often displayed his boxing prowess at the slightest provocation in the Ikorodu area of Lagos where they reside.

The Police at Owutu Police Division in Agric area of Ikorodu, led by CSP Margaret Okonkwo, have arrested the husband, Chinwa, and detained him at their station to explain why he should subject Amanda to such in human treatment.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Amanda was seriously battered and injured on her right eye. She was reportedly taken to the hospital where she stayed for several weeks before she was discharged.

The couple, who hails from Oko town in Aguata/Orumba Local Government area of Anambra State, had not been without issues. Immediately she was discharged from the hospital, the husband was said to have given her another round of beating which almost cost her life last week. The incident was said to have attracted empathy from their neighbours who then informed the police to intervene in order to save Amanda’s life.
It was then the DPO moved in, arrested Chinwa and brought him to the police station for interrogation.

It was gathered that the couple got married some years ago and had children but since they got married, the victim, Amanda, had been subjected to constant beatings. It got to the extent that he had repeatedly told the wife that her family will soon come and carry her dead body if she does not leave his house over an undisclosed issue.

According to some residents, “He cowed her into perpetual slavery and intimidation making her feel worthless. He has been intimidating and always letting her know that he is above the law because he knows the police and always spends money on them”.

When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent contacted the DPO over the matter, she declined to speak. However, our reporter confirmed that the husband was arrested and detained at the police station. It was also gathered that the man was made to write an undertaking not to touch the wife again which he was said to have signed.

P.M.EXPRESS scooped that the assault has not stopped and the man has continued to threaten the victim but has not touched her for two days unlike in the past when it was a routine.
