Female Sales Rep. Docked For Converting Boss’ N13.7m Products

A 29-year old female sales representative, Rita Christopher, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly converting her female boss’ products worth N13.7m.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Segun Awolowo Street, Ejigbo area of Lagos, where the owner, Amarachi Orakwe, owned a store and engaged the suspect as a sales representative.
According to the Police, the suspect had between 23rd November, 2023 and 13th June, 2024, being the sales representative converted the money made from the products without the consent of the owner.
However, the alleged fraud was exposed after the complainant embarked on an internal audit and discovered that such amount was missing. And she then reported the matter to the Police at Ejigbo Division for investigation.
Thus, the Police arrested the sales representative and detained her at the station for interrogation over her alleged conduct.
The Police found her culpable after rounds of interrogation and consequently charged her before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
She pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted her bail in the sum of N2m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 15th July, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
