Ahead of the ninth edition of GOtv Boxing Night, Jenkins Alumona, the CEO of Flykite Promotion, the event promoter, has assured fans of getting maximum enjoyment from the seven bouts scheduled.

GOtv Boxing Night 9, which holds on 2 October at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, said Alumona, will deliver blockbuster fights because of the quality of boxers chosen.

Alumona made this promise in Lagos on Sunday. The two international challenge bouts billed for the event, he explained, have been arranged to give the best boxers from Ghana and Nigeria the opportunity to face stiff tests.

“The two Ghanaian boxers coming to fight are top of the tree in their country. Fijabi and Joe Boy, their opponents, are two of the biggest boxers on the domestic circuit. Taken together, this means a feast of top class boxing,” he said.

Olaide “Fijaborn” Fijabi, the explosive national lightweight champion, will fight Raphael “Iron King” Kwabena King, while the equally savage-punching national lightweight champion, Oto “Joe Boy” Joseph, will take on Richard “Desert Warrior “ Amefu.

The fight line-up also includes the much awaited national cruiserweight title defence by Ekeng “Fighting Policeman” Henshaw, whose belt is being coveted by Idowu “ID Cabasa” Okusote. Equally awaited is the ring return of the flamboyant Jude “Great Jude” Iloh, the national light heavyweight champion, who takes on Adewale “Masevex” Masebinu. The same category will also see Emmanuel “Man Mopol” Igwe in a duel with Kabiru “KB Godson” Towolawi. Another lightweight clash pairs Prince “Lion” Nwoye with Sikiru “Omo Iya Eleja” Shogbesan.

In the light middleweight division, Ebubechukwu “Coded Man” Edeh and Semiu “Jagaban” Olapade, the duo discovered at the GOtv Boxing NextGen Search, will make their debut.

The best boxer at the event, which will be broadcast live by SuperSport in 47 African countries, will go home with a cash prize of N1.5million.
