The police in Lagos have commenced moves to arrest the suspects who blackmailed a food seller, Mrs. Dupe Ajiloba, by posting on the internet that she was cooking food with water collected from dead bodies.
P.M.EXPRESS reports as was disclosed by the Commandment of Vigilante in Isasi area of Lagos popularly known as Santos.
In the early hours of the morning on the 27th May, 2019, VGN Commander, Santos, called concerning a situation around Isashi about an Amala seller, who was unjustly accused of using water from dead bodies to prepare food for the purpose of attracting customers to her popular Amala joint.
It was gathered that the false rumour was instigated due to a quarrel between the complainant, Mrs. Dupe Ajiloba (the Amala seller) and the accused Mrs. Salaye, Tolu, an undisclosed lady and Baba Odua (a fake babalawo) who are accomplices, to the wide spread of the wrong accusation on Dupe Ajiloba.
According to the VGN Commander, who reported the incident, that was an unjust accusation and called for concern. That was why he called the Press, the police and the youth chairman of the community to put heads together and stop the accusations and false rumour being spread all across the country to the detriment of Dupe’s business.
“Personally I eat her food and has never for once observed such occurrence” he said.
Some members of the community who spoke to P.M.EXPRESS condemned such wicked act, saying they never ever thought of her like that as they also ate her food and were contented with it. The rumour went viral on the internet as customers from all over the state who had eaten her food had called to get confirmation of the news.
Before now, the embattled Mrs. Dupe had reported the rumour mongers to the police but most of them fled during the arrest. But Mrs. Salaye, the most devious one, was taken into custody, interrogated and warned to desist from such condemning act yet she persisted until the Amala seller decided to report again in order to stop their continuous spread of the fake rumours.
Speaking to Mrs. Dupe Ajiloba, 46, she confirmed that she stays within Isashi area and had been selling Amala since 2015.
“It’s been from one temptation to the other and this is because of the increase in sales due to constant patronage. A lot of people from all over the state find it satisfying to eat from my restaurant” she said.
She explained that one of the rumour mongers, Mrs. Salaye and Baba Odua had been giving her constant problems as they do not want her to keep benefiting from her business since Baba Odua’s daughter, Iya Moria, equally sells same kind of food but does not sell as much as she does. She said that envy had made him to constantly cause problems for her by trying both spiritually and physically means to no avail.
Mrs. Dupe narrated that at a time Mrs. Salaye accused her of trying to harm her unborn child by putting up a naked breasted picture on Facebook stating that if she dies with her pregnancy, that Mrs. Dupe should be held responsible only for Salaye to apologise later after tarnishing her image online. She said that it had gone on and on until she now felt she’s had enough of all that and lamented to the right authorities in order to fight her case and end all this rumours which had affected her life, food business and she needed to clear her name.
