Former Bank Manager In Police Net Over Abduction Of 2 Kids

The police at Area D Command in Mushin, Lagos have arrested two suspects, one former bank manager, Mr. Felix Oko and Samson Sunola in connection with the alleged abduction of two kids of the same parents on their way to school in Lagos.

The incident happened at Iyke Meregini Street area in Bucknor Estate in Ejigbo area of Lagos where the victims parents resided.

P.M.EXPRESS confirmed from police sources that the former bank manager, Mr. Felix Oko and Samson Sunola were finally arrested early this Wednesday morning after all attempts to frustrate the investigations failed. The other accomplice, Mr. Chijoke Akamnonu managed to escape and was said to be on the run.

It was gathered that the suspects conspired and abducted the kids (names withheld) aged 7 and 4 inside their school bus on the way to school. However, it was learnt that all efforts to taken them away were frustrated by the residents who saw what happened and the kids were rescued.

The matter was reported to the police at Ashamu Station and the suspects were initially arrested but released on bail and since then nothing came out of the investigations.

According to the father of the victims, Mr. Okoro Ekwe Agwu, after the failed abduction incident, the suspects had been threatening his family in order to intimidate him to withdraw the matter from the police.

The latest arrest followed a petition to the Area Commander, ACP Olusola Olasoji in respect of the matter and the inability of the police at Ashamu Station to prosecute the matter. It was gathered that the Area Commander after going through the petition, ordered the arrest of the suspects for investigations and possible prosecution.

When P.M.EXPRESS visited Area D Police Command, Mr. Oko and Sunola were still at the Command writing statements in connection with the alleged abduction of the kids.

Mr. Okoro in a petition to the police had alleged that the suspects conspired, targeted and abducted the victims from their school bus before they were frustrated by the residents, the kids were later freed and taken to their house as their parents had gone to work. Okoro claimed that the abduction saga had seriously affected the children and that the suspects were not remorseful, rather they were boasting that they had every connections to handle the matter and remain free.

The motive behind the alleged attempted abduction by the former bank manager was not yet known but the residents confirmed the incident. They however declined further comments to avoid being implicated in the whole saga.

The Area Commander could not be reached for comments as his known phone number said to be unavailable. However, a police source confirmed the arrest of the suspects and said that they have commenced investigations into the matter.
