Next generation network, Globacom, last weekend sponsored selected corporate subscribers on the company’s network to the United Kingdom where they watched live the Barclays Premier League football match between Manchester United and Arsenal FC at Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester.
Globacom, the official telecoms partner of Manchester United Football Club in Nigeria, Ghana and Benin Republic, used the trip to thank select high net worth individuals whose companies have supported the company with their patronage over the years.
Some of the corporate subscribers on the trip were Nowmen Emeghalu, Adekunle Fatai Salau, Adewale Saka and Abayomi Orenuga. Others were Olufemi Sijuade, Emeka Eboegbune and Kunle Osobu, all from the public and private sectors of the economy.
The trip, according to Coordinator of Enterprise Solutions, Globacom, Folu Aderibigbe, who accompanied them was sponsored by the company to show its appreciation to the subscribers’ for their unwavering patronage over the years.
Aderibigbe, therefore, called on Nigerians to join the Globacom network to enjoy unique benefits.
The Glo delegation arrived in Manchester Airport on Friday (18 November,2016), and was received by Manchester United officials.
The team moved to the Hospitality Suite of Old Trafford Stadium on Saturday where they joined other football lovers to enjoy every moment of the encounter between Manchester United and Arsenal.
The team also met four Man United legends including Lou Macari, Author Albiston, Gary Pallister and Brian Robson who also took time to educate them about hitherto unknown facts and figures about the club.
Earlier on Friday, the team was taken on a guided tour of the Old Trafford Stadium by the Manchester United tour guide and they had an opportunity to see all the trophies the club had won in the English Premier League, Carling Cup, FA Cup, Champions League and other competitions. They were also shown the Museum, the Dug Out, the Tunnel from where players emerge into the pitch, and the Players’ Dressing Room.
Globacom had in 2010 signed a five-season relationship with Manchester United. The deal which saw the two global brands partnering on several football developing projects was renewed for another five years in 2015.
