Gothia Cup-winning Goalkeeper, Anis Onyemaechi Targets Golden Eaglets At 15

A 15-year old goalkeeper, Anis Onyekachukwu Onyemaechi, who won the Gothia Cup with SKF Nigerian Eagles in Sweden through his impressive performance, has shown that indeed Nigeria has great talent in him. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the young Onyemaechi has the desire and aspirations to join the Golden Eaglets team for the WAFU B U17 tournament, which may be a reminder to the Nigerian Football Federation to maintain its integrity by embracing young and raw talents, have zero tolerance for prejudice and discourage age falsification from aspiring players.

 

The teenager, Anis Onyekachukwu, aims at being chosen for goalkeeping roles in the Golden Eaglets team which is set to represent Nigeria at the WAFU B U17 tournament next month. He has equally demonstrated his capacity in some of the Golden Eaglets’ training sessions.

 

He is a senior secondary school student from Chrisland High School in Ikeja, Lagos, who also attended Unique Soccer Academy in Lagos, and has displayed moments of creativity which prompted the coaching officials to include him in their team.

 

At the Gothia Cup, Onyemaechi’s performance was outstanding, helping the SKF Nigerian Eagles win nine games to secure the podium and the U16 tournament title.

He continued his goalkeeping prowess with the Chrisland School Football Team at the DOA football yearly tournament after moving to Nigeria from Sweden, where his school emerged victorious.

 

Given the traits Onyemaechi has displayed in goal, it is clear that the young goalie, who has shown great character and agility, has a bright future in the beautiful game—as long as he stays committed.
