Gov. AbdulRazaq Awards Cash Gift To Winner Of Essay Competition

The Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman, has awarded a cash prize of N900,000 to Oluwarotimi Boluwatife Adenike, who came third in the recently concluded Annual National Children’s Day Essay competition and commended her for making the state proud.



The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs. Rebecca Bake Olanrewaju, made the presentation of a dummy cheque of Nine Hundred Thousand Naira cash award to Oluwarotimi Boluwatife Adenike.

While thanking Governor AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq for putting the necessary machineries in place in order to revamp the educational system in the State, she added that, “it is on record that his investment in education is second to none nation wide”.

The Permanent Secretary further observed that “Kwara State has achieved immensely in the education sector, under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq with great transformations and the restoration of public confidence in government owned schools. This is evident in the way our students are making us proud in all the competitions they have participated”, she said.

In view of this, Olanrewaju charged Teachers in the State to maintain the standard of education towards ensuring higher academic performances of students, pointing out that they have crucial roles to play in the success or failure of the State’s educational sector.

Lending his voice, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Mr. Olanrewju Okanlawon Musa, also appreciated Governor AbdulRazaq for the unflinching support and encouragement to students as evident in the cash award.

He therefore, called on parents to enrol their children in government-owned schools where there are more qualified and experienced teachers.

In her remarks, the Director, Personnel, Finance and Supply of the Ministry, Hajia Motunrayo Raliat Balogun, appreciated the efforts of the Governor for his laudable achievements in  revamping the educational system in the State.

She added that the winner deserves to be celebrated because she has made the State proud and urged her not to relent in her quest in becoming the best and reaching greater heights in the future.

The Principal of Oke-Onigbin Secondary School, Chief Abiodun Oyedepo, applauded the State Government for the kind gesture and prayed for God’s guidance for the Governor in piloting the affairs of the State.

The recipient’s mother, Mrs. Oyeronke Okunloye, and the recipient, Miss Oluwarotimi Boluwatife Adenike, thanked the State government for the cash gift, urging the government not to relent in awarding excellence to further encourage and motivate youths in the State.
