Government Should Be Blamed For The Proliferation Of Adulterated Products

Posted on December 21, 2023
Who should be held accountable for the upswing in the adulteration of popular brands in Nigeria? The blame lies with the government at all levels, which has failed to promote local production and improve policies to checkmate piracy of any kind. Additionally, the economy is contracting daily, leading more families to wake up in the throes of poverty, with many mouth to feed.
Beyond debates on what is right or wrong, moral considerations take a backseat to survival for individuals grappling with the harsh reality. Adulteration and manipulation, although age-old and not exclusive to Nigeria, become more alarming in light of our current circumstances. Ultimately, the crux of the matter is the impact of leadership and its influence on the majority.
Our foremost challenges in this part of the world are poverty and makeshift leadership. Until we address these issues, we may one day awaken to an even worse situation.
80 percent of Nigerians, if not more, are involved in various kinds of adulteration and piracy crimes.
