Eden Hazard and Gary Cahill were full of praise for the side after Chelsea came from behind at Manchester City to win an eighth consecutive Premier League game on Saturday.

The Blues trailed at the break after Cahill scored an own-goal just before half-time, but Diego Costa netted his 11th goal of the season to equalise on the hour, before both Willian and Hazard struck on the break to seal an impressive 3-1 win.

‘It was a good game for us, we did well,’ said Hazard. ‘It’s not every year you win eight in a row, we played well. To come here and be losing 1-0 at half-time it’s not easy to win the game but we did well.

‘We showed great character last week against Tottenham and again against City. The whole team gave everything and that was the key, ” he told Chelsea website.

Cahill echoed the Belgian’s sentiments as he reflected on the victory.

‘I think that’s my first own-goal,’ the defender added. ‘I can’t remember another one. It was unfortunate. We were playing against a very good team and they showed that in the first half. Everybody was saying this would be the big test for us.

‘We were 1-0 down but we had to keep doing what we were doing. At 1-0 you’re always in the game and when it went to 1-1 we showed a lot of character. We didn’t play our best football but at times in the second half we were very good.

‘We’re not even at Christmas yet but eight wins is encouraging. It was a test which we completed. We’re going home happy and we got the three points.’

Hazard also paid tribute to Diego Costa following another tireless performance from the striker.

‘Before he was scoring a lot but sometimes getting yellow cards or red cards, now he’s not, that’s the big change,’ said the winger.

‘He gives everything on the pitch, he scored a goal and got one assist, he’s been on fire since the start of the season.’
