HEDA Seeks Court Order To Compel Exxon-Mobil Under FOI Act

Human and Environment Development Agenda (HEDA) Resource Centre, a Non- governmental organization in Nigeria has filed a Motion Exparte seeking for an order compelling Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited to make available to the Applicant comprehensive information with respect to its renewal of OMLs 67,68 and 70, including the forensic audit report in respect of same. 
The said Motion Exparte was dated the 8th day of March, 2018 and filed alongside an affidavit, deposed to by Mr.. Olalekan Yahaya Buhari, Programme Officer of the Incorporated trustees of the HEDA Resource Centre, in addition to a certificate of identification of computer generated document, a statement, a verifying affidavit and a written address.
The application is made with a view to enabling HEDA to carry out its mandate of fighting corrupt and fraudulent practices involving public institutions.
HEDA had earlier in a letter dated 2nd January, 2018, under the Freedom of Information Act requested for these information from the Oil company without response. The Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited managed a Joint Venture Vehicle in Oil production with Nigeria controlling majority share of 55%.
No date has been fixed for hearing of the motion.
