Highway Robber Shot Dead By Police

Men of the Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday 23rd of May, 2018, shot dead an armed robbery suspect at Fidiwo area of Lagos/Ibadan expressway.

Following a distress call received by the Police at Isara Divisional headquarters that hoodlums operating on motorcycle had blocked the expressway and were dispossessing commuters of their belongings, the DPO Isara Division, CSP Yussuf Taiwo led his men to the scene.

On sighting the policemen, they opened fire on them and the policemen retaliated. At the end of the gun duel, one of the robbers was shot dead while others escaped with various degrees of gunshot wounds. Recovered from him was a cut to size locally made pistol while the two Bajaj motorcycles they used for the operations were also recovered.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu has commended the quick response to distress by men of Isara Division. He also directed that the members of the gang who escaped should be arrested and brought to justice. The CP vowed to rid the expressways in the state of crime and criminality.
