Homeless Man Arrested For Living Inside Old Train Coach

A homeless man, Olalekan Ibrahim, has landed in trouble for habiting inside an abandoned train coach before he will raise money to get an accommodation in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that he was arrested by the Police at Railway Command for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace.
The incident happened at Federal Railway compound, Ebute Metta area of Lagos.
According to a Police source, the man claimed he had no money to rent a house and so started using the place after work before the Police stormed the place and arrested him.
He was said to have informed the Police that he had accommodation problem, was not able to raise money to rent a house and decided to live inside the train coach until he is able to raise money.
The Police found him culpable for using the place as apartment and charged him before the Ebute Metta Magistrates Court for trespassing by using the coach as a living place.
He pleaded not guilty before the Court.
The prosecutor, Inspector O. Kehinde, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.A. Oshoniyi, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He was remanded in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
The matter was adjourned till 9th September, 2021, for mention.
