Hon. Kasunmu Commends Chess Clinic Organisers, Extends Invitation To Ikeja Constituency 2

Over the weekend, the Honourable Member representing Ikeja Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu (ARK), was a Special Guest at a 3-day Chess Clinic for school children at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The Clinic was organised by Gidi Sports and Tourism in collaboration with Lagos State Chess Association and Lagos State Sports Commission. 

The aims and objectives of the programme are to activate the interest and passion of the Children in the game of Chess in order to boost their learning and thinking capabilities.

Participants were drawn from various schools across the six Educational Districts of Lagos State and the attendance was impressive.

Hon. Kasunmu, who represented the Chairman, House Committee on Youth and Sports, Hon. Moshood Osun, at the event, commended the organisers for their thoughtfulness in putting together such a marvellous catch-them-young programme.
He also motivated the students by reiterating the fact that playing Chess can activate their inner analytical thinking process. 

Also present at the event were, Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Sola Aiyepeku; Chairman, Lagos State Chess Association, Mr. Tokunboh Fagun; MD, Gidi Sports and Tourism Ltd, Mr. Bello Henderson; Executive Director, Gidi Sports and Tourism, Queen Ifeanyinwa Ogu and many other notable personalities.

At the end of the 3-day Clinic, 12 most outstanding students went home with various gifts including 2 Chess Board kits each and a certificate of participation. All the participating students also got one Chess board kit each, courtesy of one of the sponsors.

The organisers and participants thanked Hon. Kasunmu for his attendance and support.


While at the event, the vibrant and youthful Lawmaker, Hon. ARK, seized the opportunity to invite the organisers to replicate the programme for the students of Ikeja Constituency 2, volunteering to provide 100 percent sponsorship.


The programme was concluded on Friday.
