Hon. Kasunmu Wins Legislator Of The Year 2023 Award, Thanks Constituents, Family, Friends & Organizers For Support

The Deputy Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu (ARK), has emerged as the winner of 2023 *LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR* award.

 

Five lawmakers of Lagos State House of Assembly were nominated for the prestigious award and all went through a very rigorous and highly competitive voting process.

The nominees include: Hon. Aro Moshood (Ikorodu); *Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu (Ikeja Constituency 2); Hon. Nureni Akinsanya ( Mushin); Hon. David Setonji (Badagry); Hon. Ladi Ajomale (Oshodi Isolo).

The voting process, which was done via *theaccoladesaward.com* started on Friday 25th August 2023 and was to end by 7pm on Sunday 27th August.
However, the platform experienced a major glitch about three hours to the Polls closure.

According to the organizers, the website exceeded its Bandwidth as a result of the overwhelming responses from the constituents and supporters who were trying to cast their votes for Hon. Kasunmu.

At the end of collation, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu polled 1,150 votes. Hon. Aro Moshood of Ikorodu garnered 700+ votes; Hon. Akinsanya (OSMAK) scored about 300 votes; while Hon. Setonji and Hon. Ajomale polled less than 100 votes each.

Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu was subsequently declared as the winner.

According Mr. Gbenga Owoeye, the Team-Lead of Accolades Awards, organizers of the award, “The Lagos Community Heroes Award was specially instituted to identify, recognize and motivate individuals who have demonstrated exemplary leadership capacity and made noteworthy contributions to their communities and this is the 6th edition of the award.
The Lawmakers of Lagos State who were nominated for the Legislator of the Year category caught our attention when they spoke out for their Constituencies during the examination of the list of Commissioners and cabinet members sent to the Assembly by the Governor”.

Speaking further, Gbenga Owoeye said, “this is unprecedented and it shows that the Lawmakers are alert to their duties as the defender of the interests of their communities, regardless of being in the same party with the Executive”, Owoeye concluded.

The process of winning the Legislator of the Year Award was structured as follows:

1. Evidence of legislative and community impact–30%

2. One-on One-Interview with Nominees– 30%

3. Online voting by Constituents and Supporters– 40%

According to a statement on the Instagram handle of the organizers, “Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu of Ikeja Constituency 2 performed exceedingly well in categories 1 & 2 and also scored the highest number of votes in the polls. He is hereby declared as the winner of *LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR 2023 AWARDS*

 

In his response to his emergence as the Legislator of The Year, Hon. Kasunmu expressed deep appreciation to the leaders and members of his Constituency, especially those who voted and those helped mobilize for votes during the voting process. He also commended the organizers of the award for their creativity and transparency.
He promised to keep providing excellent representation in the interest of his Constituency and Lagos State at large.

The Award presentation ceremony comes up on Saturday 2nd September, 2023, at Ikoyi.
