Hon Odunmbaku Attends Lagos International Water Conference

Organized and hosted by the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission, the conference is a gathering of sector stakeholders, practitioners, development partners and private investors to bring a clear understanding of challenges affecting sustainable access to safely managed water, sanitation and hygiene services in Lagos and to discuss financing opportunities, regulation, innovation and the role of technology in the sector.

Mrs. Funke Adepoju, Executive Secretary of the regulatory body, in her welcome address, said that the conference is part of a conscious effort by the Commission to bring up the discussions to address the myriad of challenges confronting the sector, suggesting solutions to effective sanitation management and attract investments in to the sector with its diverse economic possibilities.

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, ably represented by his Deputy, Dr Kadiri Hamzat, as the Guest of Honour, stated the importance of water as an essential resource and that the conference is of great significance to growth and development of Lagos while commending the commitment of the Executive Secretary of LASWARCO to repositioning the regulatory commission in improving access to clean water, sanitation and investment opportunities.

Several keynote speakers from across the world that are water and sanitation experts gave various speeches on fecal sludge management, sanitation operations, environmental sustainability and health, water resources management and development while sharing thier experiences ranging from private, public and non profit organizations.

Hon Segun Odunmbaku, who attended the insightful event alongside his amiable wife, Mrs. Abimbola Odunmbaku, praised LASWARCO for its impactful initiatives that is uplifting lives and communities through collaborations with international partners like WaterAid and PepsiCo, which has benefitted Ojodu LCDA in the provision of WASH facilities for schools, markets and health centers with capacity building for health and sanitation workers leading to improvement in positive outcomes like standard of life and better environment.

Olalekan Shodeinde, Permanent Secretary, Office Of Drainage Services, Lagos State Body Of Permanent Secretaries, Organized Private Sector and International Partners.
