Hon Segun Odunmbaku Attends High Level Policy Dialogue On Primary Healthcare

The Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Lagos State, Hon. Segun Odunmbaku, on Monday participated in a high-level Primary Health Care (PHC) Policy Dialogue organised by the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board at Sheraton Hotels, Lagos. 
The policy dialogue, themed “Strengthening Primary Health Care System: A Joint Leadership Dialogue,” brought together key health stakeholders from both State and Local Government levels to deliberate on practical strategies for improving primary healthcare delivery across Lagos State.
In her opening remarks, the Director of Medical Services and Disease Control at the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Veronica Iwayemi, outlined the objectives and agenda of the engagement. She stressed the importance of accountability, effective governance and the pivotal role of local government leadership in translating health sector reforms into improved access, efficiency and public trust in PHC services.
Delivering a goodwill message, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Kemi Ogunyemi, described primary healthcare as the foundation of universal health coverage. She charged LGA Chairmen to demonstrate strong political will, strengthen community engagement and promote accountability and resource mobilisation to enhance PHC outcomes.
Also speaking, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, highlighted the state’s comprehensive approach to addressing PHC gaps, emphasising governance, sustainable financing, technology, data systems and a well-supported health workforce.
Speaking after the event, Hon. Odunmbaku highlighted his administration’s investments in rehabilitating and upgrading PHCs, digitising medical records, procuring modern equipment and providing free medical services.
Odunmbaku reaffirmed his commitment to sustained collaboration with the State Government and relevant partners to ensure accessible and quality healthcare for residents.
