Housewife, 43, Arrested For Using Cutlass To Butcher Boy, 8

A 43-year old woman, Mrs. Mary Shallon William, has been arrested and charged before the Court in Lagos for allegedly displaying cruelty on an 8-year old boy, Master Michael Ayodele, by using cutlass to butcher his body.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at House 4, Bagoda Phase 11, Jesus Court in Igberogbe, Ikorodu area of Lagos State, where they reside.

The Police however, did not state if the victim was her house boy or the child of one of her neighbours in the area but stated that she used a cutlass to inflict injuries on him by cutting him almost all over the body.

The boy was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where he is being treated over injuries he sustained in the process.

The matter was reported to the Police and she was arrested. Having been found culpable after interrogation, she was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for assault.
She pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A. O. Ajibade, granted her bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

However, she was remanded in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 7th September, 2021.
