Housewife Dumps “Lazy” Husband, Files Divorce Suit To End Marriage

A housewife, Mrs. Sukurat Aremu, has filed a suit before Mapo Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Ibadan, seeking for her dissolution of her marriage to estranged husband, Abdulhakeem, on the grounds that he was lazy and cannot feed his family. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Mrs. Sukurat, in her petition, stated: “I realised that my husband was jobless and unwilling to get engaged in any meaningful venture after I got pregnant and had two children for him”.
“He is a lazy man and doesn’t want to get a job. In fact, his family members have been providing for him.”
 “He has also turned me into a punching bag. I became completely frustrated, I left his home without taking the two children along,” she said.
An embittered Mrs. Sukurat, who has relocated to Lagos and has started selling medicine to feed herself, lamented to the Court that her husband does not allow the children to spend time with her based on their grandmother’s instruction and he starves his family.
She prayed the Court to dissolve their marriage so that she would move on with her life and have peace of mind.
The President of the Court, S.M. Akintayo, having carefully listened to the testimony, ordered the respondent to produce the children in his custody before the Court by the next adjourned date.
Mrs. Akintayo adjourned the matter until 13th March, 2023, for the man’s defence.
