Housewife Pours Hot Pot Of Rice On 11-Year Old Maid

A 33-year old housewife, Mrs. Jennifer Ezenwa, has been arrested in Lagos for allegedly maltreating her 11-year old house maid, Miss Ozioma Ekwuoba, by pouring a hot pot of rice on her and inflicting injury on her body.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at No. 5 Yawah Street in Isasi area of Lagos, where they reside.
The Police alleged that having inflicted the injury on her, the suspect, Mrs. Jennifer, refused to take her to the hospital and the injury was decaying before their neighbours informed the Police. She was arrested, the victim was rescued and taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
P.M.EXPRESS learnt that the victim was brought to Lagos from the SouthEast and she started living with Jennifer as house maid. On the day the incident happened, the 11-year old victim was said to have committed an undisclosed offence and Jennifer out of annoyance carried the hot pot of rice, poured it on her body and refused to treat her.
The alleged assault has landed her in prison after she was arrested and charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for assault.
She pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr. Christopher John, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the offence.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E Nwaka, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail conditions. The victim was said to have been rescued for treatment and thereafter she will be sent back to her parents.
The matter was adjourned till 9th October, 2019.
