An 11-year old boy has refused to go back to school after he was repeatedly sexually molested by their 28-year old Arabic teacher, Mohammed Algoni, inside the school in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ifako Ijaiye area of Lagos, where the school is located.
The suspect, Algoni, has been arrested by the Police.
The dastardly act got exposed after the victim came home for the Sallah break and informed his mother that he would not be returning to school because he was being molested by the teacher.
The alleged assault was then reported to the Police; the suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over the conduct.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where the doctors confirmed that he was actually molested through penetration from the anus.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found the teacher culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court the alleged offence.
When he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Raji Akeem, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice because the offence, which he allegedly committed contravened Section 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. B. O. Osunsanmi, did not take the teacher‘s plea and ordered him to be remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
The matter was adjourned till 28th September, 2022, for mention for the report of the DPP advice to be available.
