How Girl, 16, Stabbed Father’s Friend To Death To Avoid Being Raped

Police operatives at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence
Department, SCIID, Panti Yaba, Lagos, have commenced investigation to unravel
the circumstances that led to the death of a 49-year old man, who was stabbed
to death by a 16-year old girl.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ogundele Street, Aboru area
of Lagos, where the victim, Babatunde Ishola, resides before he was murdered by
the girl, identified as Miss Timilehin Taiwo.
Though the suspect, Timilehin, claimed that she murdered him in self defence
after the deceased attempted to rape her, the Commissioner of Police, Mr.
Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered a thorough investigation over the murder.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, who
said that Timilehin was in Police custody.
He explained that on 7th March, 2020, at about 1500hrs, Oke Odo Police Station
received information that one Babatunde Ishola ‘m’ 49 years old, a security
guard in a school at Aboru, was stabbed to death by one Timilehin Taiwo ‘f’ 16
years of No.10, Olalemide Street, Aboru, an SS3
Student.
Homicide detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer, Oke Odo, visited the
crime scene at Ogundele Street, Aboru, where the corpse of the man was found
lying in the pool of his blood. The corpse was evacuated to the hospital for
post mortem examination.
The suspect was arrested and the knife, which she used in stabbing the deceased
person was recovered as exhibit and in Police custody.
DSP Elkana said that in her statement, the suspect said, the deceased person,
who is her father’s friend, invited her to his house to assist him in fetching
water, as he lives in the house alone. That she has always been helping him with
the house chores. That while she was helping out with the water, on 7th March,
2020, he attempted raping her. That she picked a knife from the room and
stabbed him.
Elkana said that the suspect was taken to hospital for medical and forensic
examination and the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has
ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation
Department Yaba for discreet investigation.
The suspect may likely be charged before the Court for murder for terminating
another person’s life which attracts life imprisonment or death by hanging if
she is tried in Court and found guilty.
