How Jilted Boy, 15, Beat Girl, 14 To Death

Facts have emerged on how a jilted 15-year old boy allegedly beat up a 14-year old girl for refusing to date him as he attacked and killed her in Ogun State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident took place on February 24, at about 1:30pm, at Nawair ud-deen Grammer School area in Abeokuta.

Police operatives from the Ogun State Command arrested the boy and have charged him for murder which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.

He was charged before the  Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and it was ordered that the 15-year old boy be remanded in a Correctional Centre for the alleged killing of a female student.

The Presiding Magistrate, Dehinde Dipeolu, who did not take the plea of the minor, ordered that he be remanded for 30 days in the Boaster Home Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The Magistrate adjourned the case until July 16 for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecuting Counsel, Olu-Balogun Lawrence, told the Court that the minor committed the offence on February 24 at about 1:30 pm, at Nawair ud-deen Grammer School area in Abeokuta.
He said the boy and the deceased were students of Rev. Kuti Memorial Grammer School and Nawiar ud- Deen Grammer school respectively before the incident happened.

Mr. Lawrence said the minor accosted the victim on her way home from school and asked her to be his girlfriend but she refused.

“As a result of the beating, the victim was taken to the General Hospital at Ijaye for treatment and was later transferred to the Federal Medical Center Abeokuta, where she died,” he said.

Meanwhile, the boy will be in custody pending the outcome of DPP’s report which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not for trial.
