Facts have emerged on how a 68-year old tanker driver, Saka Abolade, died
in the house of his mistress, Kikelomo Adeyi, in Lagos after abandoning his own
family for 6 months in Ibadan, Oyo State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Michael Ajanaku Street, Ipaja area of Lagos State, where Kikelomo resides.
It was gathered that Pa Abolade visited his mistress, Adeyi, at her residence on Saturday, February 29, 2020, and decided to pass the night there as usual.
However, after having his bath, as he was coming out of the bathroom, he reportedly slumped and before he was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, he was already dead and his corpse was deposited at mortuary for autopsy report.
It was gathered that the late Abolade and Adeyi were lovers, but they were not legally married. When he got to Adeyi’s place that night, a neighbour asked if he was going to sleep over because he parked his vehicle outside the compound and he said yes.
According to the neighbour, “After
he died, Adeyi raised alarm, informed people and contacted his friend,
identified as Jimoh, who gave information about his family”.
“His wife and children are based in Ibadan and
according to what we have heard so far, he had not gone home for about six
months. He was a tanker driver and usually conveyed petrol to different parts
of the state but whenever he got back, he would tell us that he was going home
but none of us knew that he was going to Adeyi’s place all the time.”
“Adeyi has gone to stay with her relatives in Abeokuta because she complained being
scared. She said the shock of the incident was affecting her. So, she went to
her relatives and after everything might have settled down, she said she would
return.”
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana,
said Abolade’s remains had been evacuated and deposited at the Lagos Island
General Hospital mortuary for autopsy, adding that an investigation to
ascertain the cause of death was ongoing.
