Police operatives have commenced manhunt for armed robbers, who burgled Globe Motors company’s office in Lagos, carted away vehicle brain boxes worth N132m and escaped.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 9th October, 2023, at the company’s office located at Imam Dauda Street, off Eric Moore Road, Surulere, Lagos.
According to the Police, the robbers broke into the company’s office at night, carted away the items and escaped despite the fact that the company had security guards.
When the management came to work in the morning and discovered that the office, where those items were kept was burgled with the items missing, the matter was reported to the Commissioner of Police Tactical Team and the operatives moved into action.
The Police claimed that their investigation paid off as one of the suspects, a 30-year old Kelechi Ofoi, was arrested and detained for interrogation over his alleged involvement in the crime.
However, the suspect, Ofoi, denied his involvement but the Police insisted that he was culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for conspiracy and stealing.
The Police alleged that he conspired with others now at large, burgled the company and stole several Hilux vehicle brain boxes worth the said amount of money.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, granted him bail with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment and addresses verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
