How Security Guard Arranged With  Robbers To Burgle Warehouse & Cart Away N22m Items

Police operatives from the Lagos State Command have arrested a security guard, Aliu Ibrahim, for allegedly arranging with robbers to burgle the warehouse of his boss, Joseph Famoye, and carting away imported goods worth N22m. 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 5th September,2025 at Epo Alhaji Bus Stop, Egbeda Idimu Road, Lagos, where the warehouse is located and Ibrahim was employed as a security guard.

According to the Police, the suspect was employed as a security guard and he arranged with others now at large at night, burgled the warehouse after damaging the CCTV camera installed there and carted away goods.

However, the whole thing got exposed after the matter was reported to the Police at Area M Idimu Command. The Police operatives moved into action, arrested the suspect and detained him at the Command for interrogation over the alleged crime.

After rounds of interrogation and from the information provided by the damaged CCTV camera installed in the warehouse, the security guard was found culpable and consequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charges read:

COUNT: “That you, Aliu Ibrahim ‘M’, a Security Guard attached to warehouse, on 5th September, 2025 at about 0400hrs at  the Epo Alhaji Bus Stop, Egbeda Idimu Road Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire with others now at large, to commit felony, to wit misdemeanor and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

COUNT II:” That you, Aliu Ibrahim ‘M’, and others now at large on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial district, did unlawfully burgle the warehouse of one Mr. Joseph Famoye with intent to steal, and maliciously damaged his property and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 307 (c) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

COUNT III:”That you, Aliu Ibrahim ‘M’, and others now at large on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial district, did steal under mentioned items: (1). TCL Plasma TV (N1,500,000.00) each X 4 Units (N6,000,000.00) (2). Apple Laptop (N250,000.00) each (3). Dell & HP Laptops (N200,000) Each X 2 Units (400,000.00) (4). Ipad Tablet (N150,000.00) each X 2 Units (N300,000.00) (5). Microsoft Windows Mini Laptop (N250,000) each X 2 Units (N500,000.00) (6). Dell Tablet (N120,000.00) Each X 2 Units (N240,000.00) (7). Perfumes Approximately 70 Pieces at N60,000.00 each Estimated (N4,200,000.00) (8). Charles Raymond & Mona B Wristwatches 100 pieces at (N85,000.00) each (N8,500,000.00) (9). Travelling Boxes (N120,000.00) each X 4 Units (N480,000.00) 10. Ladies Pack Purses (N55,000.00) each X (10). Units (N550,000.00) (11). Vortex Phones (N120,000.00) and N150,000.00) (4 Units Total (N540,000.00) (12). Power Bank (76,500.00) X1 Unit (N76,500.00) (13). Men Designer Bags (N200,000.00) and (N150,000.00) (N350,000.00) Total valued Twenty-Two Million SIX Hundred and Thirty-Six Thousand, Five Hundred Naira only (N22,636,500.00), properties of your employer, one Joseph Famoye ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

COUNT IV:”That you, Aliu Ibrahim ‘M’, and others now at large on the same date, maliciously damaged the warehouse sliding glasses door and 2 Circuit Camera Television (CCTV) installed at the warehouse with objects and cutter and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

However, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.A. Popoola, granted him bail in the sum of N2m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned till 17th October, 2025, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
