A notorious robbery suspect, Kehinde Adewumi, popularly known as Hunter, has been arrested by Police operatives in Lagos State after alleged N12m robbery operation with his gang members.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that operatives from the Lagos State Police Command arrested Adewumi in an armed robbery case in Mushin area alongside his gang members, who at gunpoint robbed one Stanley Nwabuwa in Mushin back in 2022, where they forcefully obtained his valuables including his ATM card.
After the robbery, the gang withdrew N12.2m from the victim’s account unknown to them that the Police intelligence team was trailing them.
During the investigation, the Police discovered that Adewumi received a significant portion of the money to the sum of N1.4 million from a Point of Sales (POS) agent.
The investigation led the Police to the POS agent, who identified Adewumi as the recipient of the illicit funds, which led to his arrest and detention in Police custody for interrogation.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Yaba Magistrate Court for conspiracy and armed robbery.
However, he pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Thomas Nurudeen, then moved a motion asking the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P. E. Nwaka, granted him bail in the sum of N3m with three sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned till 31th July, 2023, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
