Husband, Wife Sent To Prison For Battering Neighbour

The police have arrested one Joseph Izuekwu and his wife, Chinasa, for allegedly conspiring to engage their female neighbour, one Christiana Ugbah, in a public brawl and injuring her in the process.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at 10, Felix Nwosu Street off Agric Road in Igando area of Lagos where they reside.

It was gathered that one Christiana Ugbah has disagreement with Joseph’s wife, Chinasa, which resulted in both fighting publicly. While Christiana was getting the upper hand, Chinasa’s husband joined her and battered Christiana.
The matter was reported to the Igando Police Division; the couple were arrested and detained at the police station while the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
They were later charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates court for assault and they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor, informed the court that the defendants conspired and assaulted the victim injuring her in the process.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O. Shomade, granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
However, they were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 25th November, 2018 for hearing.
