I Steal Only In Churches – Says Man, 24, Arrested Inside FourSquare Church

A 24-year old man, Kehinde Sodiq, who was caught at the premises of FourSquare Church in Lagos State, has told the Police that he was not a member of the church but only went there to steal because he only steal from churches.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Sodiq, made the confession after he was apprehended by the Police at Ipaja Division for entering into the church premises located at Amosun area of Ipaja, Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect and one other now at large had on 13th July, 2025, invaded the church in the early hours of the morning and before they could steal items, the security guards in the area apprehended him while his accomplice narrowly escaped.
He was then handed over to the Police at Ipaja Division for interrogation over his motive for entering the church at such odd hour without the consent of the church management.
While being interrogated, the suspect told the Police that they actually went there to steal but they have not stolen anything before they were caught in the premises.
The Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under the criminal laws of the State.
The charges read :
“That you, Kehinde Sodiq and one other now at large that on the 13th day of July, 2025, at about 1245hrs at FourSquare Church, Amosun, Ipaja, Lagos in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit attempt to steal and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of LagosS State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT II: “That you, Kehinde Sodiq ‘M’ and one other at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did attempt to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby contravened the provisions of Section 406 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
He pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for facts and sentence since he pleaded guilty to enable him present the facts for the Court to sentence him accordingly.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.A. Popoola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, and adjourned the matter till 18th August, 2025, for facts and sentence.
