I Wanted To Use My Baby To Raise N150,000 – Woman Says

A woman, Emila Sunday, has been arrested in Anambra State for attempting to sell her three-month old baby boy for N150,000 to an undisclosed buyer claiming that she was facing hardship and decided to use what she had to raise money.
The incident happened at Ojoto town, Idemili Local Government area of Anambra State, where Emila resides and delivered the baby.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed.
He said that on the 24th November, 2020, at about 6pm, following intelligence report, Police operatives attached to Ojoto Division in Anambra State arrested one Emila Sunday ‘f’, who claimed to be 21years old from Akwa Ibom State, with a three-month old baby boy at Ire-village, Ojoto.
SP Mohammed said that preliminary investigation revealed that Emila was negotiating and attempting to sell her three months old baby boy before the information leaked.
On interrogation, she confessed that she actually wanted to sell the baby due to hardship and she decided to use what she had to raise money.
Mohammed explained that the baby was rescued in good health condition and is now in protective custody while the suspect was arrested and was undergoing interrogation over her conduct.
He said that investigation is ongoing in order to unravel the circumstances surrounding the matter and the suspect will be prosecuted after the conclusion of investigation.
