I Was Offered N5bn To Turn Against Fubara – Says Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie As He Carpets Dr George Nwaeke

Former Honourable Member of the Rivers Assembly and the Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, has alleged that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, offered him N5 billion to turn against his principal.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme, Rt. Hon. Ehie claimed he still had evidence of the communication on his phone. He stated that the offer was made when he served as the Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, with the intent to lure him into working against Governor Fubara.
“I was approached with a promise of N5 billion to betray my Governor, but I refused. The evidence is still on my phone,” he asserted.
Rt. Hon. Ehie also dismissed allegations by former Rivers State Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, who had accused him of orchestrating the bombing of the State Assembly complex under Gov Fubara’s directive. He countered the claims by citing Police reports, which he said confirmed that the last convoy to access the complex before the explosion belonged to the Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon Martins Amaewhule.
“The security reports show that the last people who accessed the Assembly before it was bombed were those in the Speaker’s convoy. I had no hand in it,” Ehie stated.
He further alleged that Dr. Nwaeke’s accusations were influenced by individuals loyal to Nyesom Wike. According to Ehie, on the same day Nwaeke resigned as Head of Service, he had reached out to him requesting financial assistance.
“Dr. Nwaeke’s issue is greed. I have evidence that he was begging me for money on the same day he resigned. His statements were clearly sponsored,” Ehie claimed.
